Jess believes that her most important role as a family law attorney is to guide families through a stressful time of transition to reach positive outcomes for everyone involved. Jess approaches her practice with the view that family law matters are beginnings of a new chapter in people’s lives, and she strives to help clients start their new chapter in the best possible way. She enjoys getting to know clients and their stories, and using her skills to help them shape the narrative of their lives going forward.
Jess began her career in family law while a student at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, clerking for a Chicago family law firm. She also participated in the Bluhm Legal Clinic’s Complex Civil Litigation and Investor Protection Center. There, she gained experience in litigating a variety of subjects, from civil rights to city ordinances, as well as experience with alternative dispute resolution in the form of arbitrating and negotiating consumer financial matters. Jess has worked for both small and large family law firms in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and has had the opportunity to serve clients from a variety of backgrounds.
In law school, Jess served as an articles editor for the Northwestern Journal of Law and Social Policy. She authored a note for the journal, entitled Policy Considerations and Implication in United States v. Bryant, which was awarded the Lowden-Wigmore Prize, presented annually to one student contributor from each Northwestern law publication for exemplary legal writing.
Jess is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. She graduated cum laude from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in 2018, after completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Gender and Women’s Studies and Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2014.
Outside of work, Jess enjoys music, reading, cross-stitch, and playing roller derby. She is a member of the Chicago Outfit Roller Derby league and has previously served on its executive board as General Manager. Jess grew up in Cary, Illinois, and maintains close ties with the community there. She currently lives in Chicago with her fiancé and their two cats.
